Snowden

Gave the legs a rest (well the bits that do cycling anyway!) and climbed Snowden via Grib Goch on Saturday. Brilliant climb up along the ridge, still plenty of snow on the peaks, but gutted at reaching Snowden Summit. What a circus.

Felt good and fit throughout though - nice to know the cycling is getting me back towards some kind of pre-injury fitness.

Quick Moor ride

Quick 18m out to Ilkley and over the moor and back. Overdressed for the first time in ages!

Schedule

Having had a few muscle niggles and a heavy cold last week, I'm opting for a light week this week and a full-on week next week. Here's my schedule for this week:

Mon: Rest
Tue: Rest
Wed: 18m
Thur: 15m
Fri: Rest
Sat: Climbing Snowden!
Sun: Rest

The Dales

Excellent ride through the Dales today with JP (who coped really well with the serious hills!)

Brings my weekly miles up to the 100 mark which is OK for an under the weather week.

Suggestion for tomorrow

How about this for a 40 tomorrow?! (Well 37.72 actually!)

Some decent climbs though. Here's the route:

Silsden Keighly Loop

Had a rainy ride via Ilkley, Silsden, Keighly and Bingley Moor today. Used the iPhone app to track it. It worked great until it seemed to lose GPS signal up on the moor (it was pretty misty) so the data wasn't really that useful. Here's some data that i have salvaged:

Total Distance: 29m
Average Speed: 16.1mph
Fastest Speed: 39.97 mph
Climb: 1732ft

Aborted ride

Did a 10 mile loop tonight. Set out for 25 but the wind was gusting dangerously. Shame. Will fit in another ride tomorrow.

First Iphone ride

Love it! Talks to you every mile through the headphone to update speed, average speed, distance etc. Seems Pretty accurate too! Only thing is it doesn't auto stop when waiting at lights etc, but I can live with that! Here's the official data. Not sure how to upload graphs yet - but I'll get there!

Started: 17 Mar 2010 19:29:07
Ride Time: 1:17:44
Stopped Time: 0:00
Distance: 20.76 miles
Average: 16.03 miles/hr
Fastest Speed: 29.21 miles/hr
Climb: 1056 feet
Calories: 1507

Schedule

Good to see Johnston out on the bike today!

No cycling for me tonight as I'm still shaking off this cold. Here's my schedule for the rest of the week though:

Wed: 25m (21m)
Thur: 25m (10m)
Fri: Free
Sat: 50m (29m)
Sun: 25m (40m)

Desperate to try the iphone cyclemeter app to log my rides...will have to wait until tomorrow!
Well it has started. Cycled to work today!! Maybe should have started with a shorter route but never mind.

Friday's Loop

Lance Parker has been well and truly bitten by the cycling bug. Here is a suggested route for tomorrow night's ride:

A hilly 24 mile circuit:

Bradford Loop

Bit of a tight hamstring tonight so opted for a 20 miler rather than the planned 25. Decent ride through the scenic suburbs of Bradford. A few days rest now I think.

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Leeds Loop

Felt better after a rest last night and had a decent ride tonight (apart from nearly ending up as road kill at Lawnswood Roundabout)

This week...

Bit of an easier week this week.

Monday: Free
Tuesday: 25m
Wednesday: 25m (20m)
Thursday: Free
Friday: 25m
Saturday: Free
Sunday: 2 X 15m

Weekly Mileage: 105m

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Ilkley Loop

Out early again for a 25 mile tour of Ilkley via Denton, the Cow and Calf and the Chevin. Baltic temperatures this morning, but stunning views across the valley. One of the most enjoyable cycles in a while!

That's me for the week. A slightly easier recovery week next week I think...

North Yorkshire

Just back from a tired ride to Ripon and Pateley Bridge. Today was the first day when my legs have felt like the increased mileage is catching up with them. Up and out by 5.45 this morning so I can see the girls (especially Izzy's first public piano performance!) Nice to be on the road so early (once I got into it!)

In Ripon Market Square:

Silsden

Cycled out to Silsden tonight. It was 0C when I left home and at least -2C on top of the moor which at 20mph felt freezing, so it was a quick 26.6 miles. Beautiful starry night :)

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Harrogate

Cycled to Harrogate tonight. Felt really cold!

Nice steady 25m circuit.

Here's the rough plan for the week:

Tonight: 25m
Wednesday: Weights
Thursday: 25m
Friday: Free
Saturday: 50m
Sunday: 25m

Weekly mileage: 125m
